    Elevation gain problems

    The difference between 1300m recorded elevation gain and 900m planned elevation gain is quite common. Similar differences occur in other applications as well. Recorded tracks generally tend to overestimate elevation gain because GPS/GNSS altitude measurements are not very accurate. A recorded track is essentially a long sequence of more or less inaccurate elevation values, and these errors accumulate when calculating total elevation gain. Applications try to filter them out, but sometimes the measurements fluctuate so much that filtering cannot remove all the errors. The result is an overestimated elevation gain. However, the opposite can also happen. Planned routes often provide a more reliable estimate because they use elevation data from a digital terrain model, which generally produces a smoother elevation profile. However, these data also require filtering, which can lead to underestimated elevation gain. Again, this is not a universal rule. Planned routes can also overestimate elevation gain, for example in mountainous areas where a road follows a river through tunnels and over bridges, while the terrain model returns elevations below the bridges or above the tunnels. Here on the Mapy.com forum, as well as in discussions elsewhere, users have repeatedly reported that Mapy.com tends to underestimate elevation gain for planned routes. However, these differences are often relatively small. For your route (900m planned and 1300m recorded), I would roughly estimate the actual elevation gain to be somewhere in between, probably closer to the planned value, perhaps around 1000m. This is only an illustrative estimate, of course, without examining the actual route. In that case, the planned route would underestimate elevation gain by about 10%, while the recording would overestimate it by about 30%. Such differences are quite common, and all mapping applications struggle with them. None is perfect. Mapy.com is aware that its planned elevation gain can sometimes be significantly underestimated, especially on very long routes. The developers have acknowledged this issue and indicated that they intend to address it. However, the details of their algorithms are internal information, just as with other mapping services. I would like to emphasize once again that differences in elevation gain of several tens of percent are not unusual and are certainly not a problem unique to Mapy.com. Regarding your second example, I'm not sure exactly what you're comparing. If you mean the difference between the minimum and maximum elevations shown in the elevation profile of a planned route, then the calculated total elevation gain should indeed not be smaller than that difference. Similar discrepancies can occur in other route planners as well, not just Mapy.com. However, Mapy.com can sometimes underestimate elevation gain quite significantly. The Mapy.com team is aware of this issue and is gradually working to improve the calculations. However, they do not publicly share the details, as I mentioned above. I am currently working on an educational article explaining this rather complex subject in detail. I expect to finish it later this year (2026). Once it is ready, I will post a link here.     @petr-zasche Bude to u různých mobilů různé, ale jde to. Menu > aplikace > vyhledat aplikaci a po kliknutí na ni jsou různé volby. Například vypnout apod. Je to různé, co systém umožňuje. Např. Samsung tam cpe kde co a první co u nového mobilu udělám je, že právě povypínám a odinstaluju nesmysly.

    Llevo muchos años utilizando el rastreador de Mapy de forma muy óptima, después de alguna actualización ha dejado de funcionar correctamente, ya no graba los recorridos de forma precisa en segundo plano, ahora ya no graba las rutas como lo hacía hasta hace bien poco. Creo que tengo la configuración y los permisos correctos, tampoco creo que sea cuestión del terminal porque otros rastreadores de otras aplicaciones funcionan correctamente. Sería de gran ayuda volver a retomar las condiciones anteriores o averiguar cuál es el error que me está sucediendo.

    Ono to tam je. Jen se to v Mapy.com nikde nezobrazuje. Když pozastavíte záznam, tak následující spuštění má časovou značku, která má daný časový odstup. Pokud chcete vidět zastávky, exportujte záznam do GPX a otvřete ho na gpxmapy.cz. Stačí přetáhnout zástupce stahování gpx na plochu gpxmapy.cz.

    As far as I know, planning a new route should not overwrite an existing activity recorded with the Tracker. Activities and planned routes are stored separately, so even if you started planning a new route while viewing the recorded activity, the original recording should remain unchanged. Are you sure the recording was saved successfully and appeared in My Maps → Activities afterwards? Unfortunately, Mapy.com does not currently have a recycle bin or a feature for restoring deleted items. If the activity is no longer visible either in the app or on the website, there is no way for you to recover it yourself. Mapy.com does not restore deleted items either, as they do not interfere with the contents of users' accounts. The only way to back up your recordings is to export them as GPX files and keep those files somewhere safe. If an activity is accidentally deleted from My Maps, you can import it again from the saved GPX file. One more thing comes to mind: are you signed in to the same account you were using when you saved the recording? Recordings don't normally disappear on their own, so perhaps it was saved under a different account. Finally, if you remember exactly where you went, it is possible to recreate the activity manually, assign start and end times, and import it into your Mapy.com account as an activity.     Tutta la problematica relativa al dislivello è molto complessa e sui valori finali influiscono moltissimi fattori. I valori non saranno mai uguali nelle diverse applicazioni, nemmeno quando partono esattamente dagli stessi dati. Le differenze possono essere anche molto grandi. Attualmente Mapy.com probabilmente utilizza lo stesso tipo di filtraggio sia per i percorsi pianificati sia per le registrazioni. Questo può portare a una sottostima nei percorsi pianificati (perché generalmente utilizzano dati altimetrici precisi ricavati dal modello del terreno, che vengono poi smussati dal filtraggio) e, al contrario, a una sovrastima nelle registrazioni (che spesso contengono dati molto irregolari provenienti dallo smartphone, che non è progettato principalmente per la geolocalizzazione). Gli algoritmi non sono mai in grado di determinare con assoluta precisione cosa sia una variazione reale del terreno e cosa sia un errore di misurazione. Le differenze maggiori si verificano generalmente sui terreni pianeggianti. Questo è dovuto a un principio matematico: in pianura gli errori di misurazione verso l'alto e verso il basso si sommano, mentre in salita e discesa gli errori tendono invece a compensarsi e quindi a eliminarsi a vicenda. Per maggiori informazioni, ad esempio, qui o qui. Il team di Mapy.com sta attualmente lavorando sul profilo altimetrico e ci aspettiamo miglioramenti progressivi nella sua qualità. Per il calcolo del dislivello di una registrazione utilizza i dati altimetrici presenti nella registrazione stessa, non quelli del modello del terreno. Può provare una cosa: importi nuovamente in Mapy.com il file GPX esportato contenente la registrazione. Nella prima fase dell'importazione, prima di salvarlo nel proprio account, accanto all'elemento della traccia c'è una piccola icona a forma di matita. Clicchi su di essa e selezioni l'opzione per caricare le quote dal modello del terreno. (Non selezioni l'opzione per importare come attività, altrimenti avrà la stessa attività due volte.) Salvi quindi la traccia in Le mie mappe e controlli nuovamente il profilo altimetrico e il dislivello. Vedrà che anche in questo caso il valore sarà diverso.

    @Alex zdravím, mám úplně stejný problém na Androidu, Samsung Galaxy A55 5G. Vše aktualizováno a stopař ikona není vidět. Lze opustit přes menu ale nelze ovládat/zobrazit.

    Continuano i problemi di orientamento e giroscopio nonostante gli aggiornamenti.. anche track non funziona..le altre app di track e mappe funzionano, dunque il problema è Mapy almeno sul mio Google pixel 11 pro. Attendo risposta alla mail prima di fare l'abbonamento a Pro. leoni.andrea89@hotmail.com

    Dobrý den, děkujeme za zprávu! Offline mapy nemají na záznam Stopaře vliv - stopař potřebuje především správně fungující GPS a povolený přístup k poloze. Prosíme zkontrolujte, že máte Mapy.com aktualizované, aplikace má povolenou přesnou polohu, může používat polohu i na pozadí a není pro ni zapnuté omezení baterie. Pokud by Stopař ani poté nezačal trasu správně zaznamenávat, dejte nám prosím vědět.

    Stopař se ukládá do Aktivit. Bude v Aktivitách. V mobilu hned po uložení a na webu po synchronizaci, která proběhne automaticky, když má mobil internet. Na mobilu: menu > moje mapy > dole zelená ikona aktivity Ještě pro info: je také možné připojovat záznam do nějaké složky, pak bude i v té složce - položka "Uložené" s ikonou hvězdičky. Ale až když ho do nějaké složky připojíte. Můžete ho připojit i do více složek. Ze složek to zase můžete odebírat, stále bude v aktivitách. Ale pozor, po smazání z aktivit už pak nejde obnovit.
