Night/dark mode, Carpuride Android auto - white flashing - bug?

I have a new Carpuride W702pro and have been testing it with Mapy. It all seems to work well except last night I tried it for the first time in the dark. Every few minutes the screen flashes bright white.
It's a huge distraction when driving and really means for me it is unusable.
Is this a known issue? It seems to happen when the map is zooming. I tried both 2d and 3d modes, full screen and also with another app.

This freeze frame I think shows that it isn't the whole screen turning white, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
