Plannig a route where there is no trail on map

Hello, I read it should be possible to plan a route through an area where there is no path/trail marked on the map, by dragging the proposed route to a new location. However, when I try it, even though a new waypoint marker is shown at the spot where I want to drag the route, the route itself does not respond. I don't seem to be able to force it trough my off-trail way waypoints.

This is a recurring request – the option to plan off-road routes – and it’s being discussed in several threads here.
At the moment, it’s not possible to plan routes outside of marked paths.
