Buggy public transport routing
-
Played a little bit around with public transport routing in Austria and discovered some bugs and wrong data.

Sometimes there is no pedestrian routing at beginning, just the next station is used s starting point: https://mapy.com/de/zakladni?planovani-trasy&rc=9f8d5xHFqm9lNw4xOE6A&rs=osm&rs=osm&ri=142638312&ri=29056555&mrp=%7B%22c%22%3A200%2C%22dt%22%3A%22%22%2C%22d%22%3Atrue%7D&xc=%5B%5D&x=13.8288045&y=46.6055485&z=13

Not the fastest route is choosen, but some routes with a lot of bus and train changes: https://mapy.com/de/zakladni?planovani-trasy&rc=91fJlxKAaU9l-pnxObyO&rs=osm&rs=osm&ri=24747417&ri=1255595515&mrp=%7B%22c%22%3A200%2C%22dt%22%3A%222026-04-01T11%3A00%3A41%22%2C%22d%22%3Atrue%7D&xc=%5B%5D&x=16.3437484&y=48.2595037&z=17
This option is 13 min faster: https://fahrplan.oebb.at/webapp/?context=TP&SID=A%3D1%40O%3DThaur%20West%40X%3D11465166%40Y%3D47289292%40U%3D81%40L%3D793297%40B%3D1%40p%3D1774601790%40&ZID=A%3D1%40O%3DWien%20Heiligenst%C3%A4dter%20Friedhof%40X%3D16346380%40Y%3D48260082%40U%3D81%40L%3D919948%40B%3D1%40p%3D1774601790%40&date=01.04.2026&time=11:00:00&timeSel=1&returnTimeSel=1&journeyProducts=7167&start=1&#!P|TP!H|862291 -
And there are wrong train tracks: https://mapy.com/de/zakladni?planovani-trasy&rc=9bDyaxL2Tt9lWRzxOB6B&rs=osm&rs=osm&ri=57581&ri=157204&mrp=%7B%22c%22%3A200%2C%22dt%22%3A%222026-04-01T12%3A00%3A41%22%2C%22d%22%3Atrue%7D&xc=%5B%5D&x=12.3789993&y=47.5693913&z=10
The time table seems to be correct, but not the track on the map. Comparison to the official national train routing website: https://fahrplan.oebb.at/webapp/?context=TP&SID=A%3D1%40O%3DKundl%40X%3D11982288%40Y%3D47476097%40U%3D81%40L%3D1170514%40&ZID=A%3D1%40O%3DWien%40X%3D16372134%40Y%3D48208547%40U%3D81%40L%3D1190100%40&date=01.04.2026&time=12:00:00&timeSel=1&returnTimeSel=1&journeyProducts=7167&start=1&#!P|TP!H|724084
Seems you are just using OSM data and calculate the shortest train track to the destination (?), but that is not a good solution. AFAIK in Austria also the shapes of the public transport routes should be available as open data.

ad1) This occurs when you set the starting point using only a “city” or “town,” where it is not clear exactly where you want to start from. It doesn’t make much sense to plan a route from the city center; it’s better to specify the exact location within the city where you want to start.
