Can I set the app to use the offline map even if it has internet?

As the title says, Can i somehow force the app to always use the offline map even if it has internet access?

Není na to žádné nastavení. Aplikace automaticky dává přednost offline datům. Tedy těm, které má k dispozici.

Tzn. že máte-li offline mapy dané oblasti, použije je. Jsou to ale jen podkladové mapy, a jen základní a turistické. Veškeré ostatní informace jdou vždy online. Např. dopravní situace, letecké mapy apod.

Máte-li úplně vypnutý nebo nedostupný internet, máte k dispozici offline staženou mapu, takže nejste mimo signál bez mapových podkladů (to je hlavní důvod offline stažení).
Ale není dostupná letecká mapa a např. plánování trasy počítá přímo apka, bez zohlednění uzavírek apod., protože ty taky offline nejsou k dispozici. Stejně tak nejsou k dispozici podrobnější údaje o zájmových bodech. V offline datech jsou jen základní informace.

Naopak máte-li dostupný internet, tak podklady se berou automaticky z paměti (stažené mapy), ale vše ostatní jde online. Např. když kliknete na zájmový bod, třeba restauraci, tak se k ní načte obrázek, otevírací doba apod. Ale to vše je vždy online, není to v offline stažených mapách.

Může se Vám zdát, že aplikace i přes stažené mapy bere hodně dat online, ale to je právě z výše uvedených důvodů. Offline stažené mapy v online režimu pouze redukují množství dat (stahuje se vše krom dostupných offline mapových podkladů).

@DEXTER I also would like to ask this question. I have the offline map, but it's still going online and eating my data! I don't understand the Czech answer!

There is no setting to force the app to use offline data exclusively. However, the app automatically prefers the offline map data when it is available.

So, if you have downloaded the offline map for a particular area, the basic map background is taken from that offline data. The app does not need to download the map tiles again, so this significantly reduces data usage.

However, offline maps contain only the basic map and some basic tourist information. Other data is still loaded online, even when you have the offline map downloaded. For example, information about restaurants and other points of interest, photos, opening hours, traffic information, aerial maps, etc.

When you have no internet connection at all, the downloaded offline map is still available, which is the main purpose of offline maps. However, online information is then unavailable, and route planning has to be calculated by the app using the offline map data, without current road closures, traffic information, etc.

So it may look as if the app is still using a lot of mobile data even with offline maps downloaded. But the downloaded offline map does reduce the amount of data transferred — the app simply still needs an internet connection for many other types of information.
