I have imported several routes into MAPY and would like to create a new Mapy route using the existing routes as guides. But when I start a new route the existing imported ones disappear. Is it possible to keep existing routes visible when working on a new route?

At the moment, it’s not possible to display multiple imported GPX tracks on Mapy.cz and plan a new route over them. This feature has been requested repeatedly in the past, including on the previous version of the forum. The team at Mapy.cz is aware of the demand and it’s planned for the future. The goal is to allow keeping tracks - and also waypoints - visible while planning, organized by folders where the GPX files are stored. However, there is currently no timeline for when this will be available.

For now, there's a workaround using the external site gpxmapy.cz. It’s a GPX editor primarily intended for editing, merging, extending, and fixing GPX files. Since such functions require route planning, the site includes planner. And this planner allows exactly what you're asking for - the imported tracks remain visible in the background while you plan a new one. However, compared to Mapy.com, the planning options are more limited - for example, it doesn’t include all routing modes or POIs.

You can load your GPX files there, plan a new base route, and then export either the GPX file or directly transfer the plan into Mapy.com. This is likely what you need - a new Mapy.com tab will open with the same planned route, which you can then save to your account and fine-tune further. You’ll then be able to navigate based on that.

Please note that gpxmapy.cz doesn’t have a mobile app and is only available for desktop. It is available in English. Uses the same map base (via API from Mapy.com) Think of it as a toolkit designed to work alongside Mapy.com - for example, you can even convert a track directly into a route plan see here

@Jan-Buriánek I don't have much experience with this tool, but I used it hiking the Via Francigena last year and it worked wonderfully. Last year a user sent me a the route after they had loaded in the files and I was able to modify it to fit my specific stops. This year I am walking the Litoral route of the Portuguese Camino and I found the GPX files for the 15 different stages and loaded each stage in myself however I am completely unable to modify the route. Is this the same issue Mark is talking about? I see the GPX files in the "My Mappy" area but can not get them to move to the "Route" area for modification. Thanks for any help.

@Jan-Buriánek One other thing, is there a way I can help other users by saving this route for others to use? I was unable to find the Litoral route in Mapy so I had to create it on my own, but many people on forums are looking around for a tool they can use and not really finding one. There is one for the Coastal and one for the traditional but finding one for the Litoral is hard to find. Thanks again for your help!!

A route saved in My Maps (whether it's a planned route or an imported track) can be shared via a link.
In the list of saved items, for example inside a folder, click the three dots next to the item and choose the first option: Share. Turn on sharing and copy the link — you can then send it to friends.
A small icon will indicate that the item is shared. If you turn sharing off or delete the item, the link will no longer work.
